Burglar Bar Guard for Wider Windows The John Sterling basic fixed mount JS-1136L is a New Jersey approved window guard when installed as a fixed child safety window guard or a burglar bar device in a non-sleeping area. If you want to install this windowguard as a swing open guard, you must purchase a 6 bar locking channel, a safety release pin, and screws for installation separately. This window guard expands from 41 to 58 inches and is 22 inches in height. This 6 bar window bar is 20-1/8" in crossbar height and 21-13/16" in overall height . Protect against intruders when installed either as a fixed window guard or as a swing open guard with the optional accessories. Install horizontally or vertically to protect double hung windows, sliders or casement windows. NOTE: Check with your local building inspection department for window guard requirements for your locality. NOTE: New Jersey Law now requires that the window guard covers the entire lower half of a double hung or singlehung window, from the top of the sill to the bottom half of the upper sash, with less than a 4 inch gap above and below the guard.
